Absences:
When you return YOU must see me (preferably before class) to get your assignment. You
will be given reasonable time to make up your work.

Attitude:
Be respectful of classmates and myself, get your work done, ask/answer questions. Have a positive attitude, I will not tolerate rudeness, laziness and poor attitudes.

Do not talk when the teacher or another student with permission is talking.  We have a great deal to cover and it is very disrespectful.  When put into groups stay on task. Things not relevant to the task at hand can be discussed before and after school, at lunch, and between classes. The more you pay attention in class, the easier it will be to remember the information come test time.

Outdoor Exploration:
When working outdoors all classroom rules apply. Be aware of safety including the tools you may be using and the environment surroundings (steep bank, sharp tools, stinging insects, etc.?).

Everyday you will walk into my classroom on time & you will have:

1.      The correct book with an appropriate book cover.

2.   A functional pen or pencil.

3.      Science only notebook with notebook paper.

4.       Assignments completed neatly. (loss of points for late assignments)

 Studying Tips
  1. Learn, understand, and use the vocabulary.
  2. Keep up. Do your best not to fall behind. This subject is very comprehensive. If you feel you do not understand something well enough, ask right away! I will be glad to help.
  3. Ask questions. Science is all about questions. Think about things that might be asked on a test or that might be beneficial to know about the subject matter.
  4. Do the reviews, use this webpage, find examples. There is a link in this webpage to your book. The website for the book may have practice test questions or some references that may help you understand something. Extra practice can only help!
  5. Stay focused. There will be times that are just frustrating. Do not give up!! Study for a period of time, take a 10 - 20 minute break to do something else and come back to it. It is not always easy, but it will come to you and if it isn't, again ask for help.
  6. Remember that assignments are not for keeping you busy. Each assignment is there to help you absorb the material and serves a purpose even when it doesn't seem so. Some people need even more repetition. Do all assignments and then do more until you feel comfortable.
