Raising funds for the music program at Tri County has meant extra effort by parents and students; especially with the current budget troubles. Admissions are charged at some concerts, and the department still receives funding from the school's budget. Music Boosters also raise money to help support the students, and the students have sold various items to help purchase new instruments. Last fall, Tri County Music Boosters decided to seek a new method to help support the Music Department. Members wanted to find a way to help the students avoid peddling items door to door to raise money. Some folks in the community had stated they would rather make a cash donation than buy something they may or may not need. Besides, 100% of a cash donation can be used to buy music, instruments, or whatever. After some planning, discussion, and a go-ahead by the school board, a program called the TC Music Supporters was created to do just that. A tax deductible donation may be made to the TC Music Supporters through the Tri County Education Foundation. Those donations will be segregated from other donations so that they may be used by the music department in conjunctions with the school's regular budget. It is hoped that enough people will jump on the bandwagon (forgive the pun) so that the music department doesn't have to depend on an annual merchandise fund-raiser. Memberships may be purchased at one of four levels:
The program was announced at the fall and winter 2002 concerts, and while the response has been good, we can do better. Please consider adding your support to the program. Your children and others in the community will benefit from your generosity; now and in the future.
