
![]() RICHARD BARTA, JR. (in memory) Corporal Richard Barta entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 2002. He graduated from Boot Camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego CA on October 18, 2002. Advanced Individual Training: Camp Pendleton CA – Infantry Division as a machine gunner. Deployed: Western Pacific – While deployed, he had training cycles in Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Africa, Guam, Australia, and Hawaii. He went to southern Iraq to do border patrolling and set up security checkpoints along the roads of Iraq. (While training in United Arab Emirates, his daughter, was born – December 22, 2003. His wife contacted the American Red Cross, and they contacted Richard telling him of the birth of their daughter. Richard was able to call his wife several hours later.) In the winter of 2006, Cpl. Barta was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ocular cancer. He passed away in March 2006. Cpl Barta was a graduate of Wilber High School. His wife was a Tri County graduate from Plymouth. He leaves behind his wife and one daughter. |
