 SCOTT R. SCHMIDT Cpt Scott R. Schmidt enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard in April 1990, and was assigned to Co C, 1/134th Infantry (Mech), 35th Infantry Division in Beatrice, Nebraska after having completed Basic Infantry Training at Ft. Benning, GA. He was assigned as an Armored Carrier Driver and served there for 4 years until August 1993 at which time he was transferred to the Individual Ready Reserve (USAR), during completion of his graduate degree. Upon his graduation from Physical Therapy School, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Medical Specialists Corp in April of 1997. His initial commissioned assignment was as a Physical Therapy Officer at the 4204th Untied States Army Hospital (USAR) in Topeka, Kansas. During his 6 years with this unit, he was deployed to Kosovo, where he served as Chief, Physical Therapy Section with Headquarters Detachment, 30th Medical Brigade (FWD) from August 2000-April 2001. His second deployment was to Wuerzburg, Germany where he served as a Physical Therapy Officer at the U.S. Army Hospital in Wuerzburg from March – October 2002. Upon his return, he was assigned to the Active Guard Reserve and attached to the 139th Medical Group in Independence, Missouri in the position of Senior Logistics Staff Officer (S4), where he serves to this day. Scott is currently deployed at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo where he serves as Senior Logistics Staff Officer (S4) for Task Force Medical Falcon. Among CPT Schmidt’s awards and decorations are the Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Expert Field Medical Badge. CPT Schmidt’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and a Master of Science Degree in Physical Therapy from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He is also a graduate of the Army Medical Department Officers Advanced Course and the Army Medical Department Officers Basic Course. CPT Schmidt currently resides in Blue Springs, Missouri with his wife. |
