Spanish Club Wins At Language Fair

Spanish Club members participated in the Language Fair competitions at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on April 13, 2017.  The Language Fair is held annually for high school students in Nebraska to demonstrate their skills and proficiency in the languages that they are studying.  Tri County competed in the areas of Drama, Music, Poetry, and Poster.   Over 30 students from Tri County participated in the competitions, earning all superior or very good ribbon placings.  In addition, Tri County students were recognized during the awards ceremony at the end of the day for earning either first or second place in each category in which they competed!  Brianna Connelly, Cheney Ensz, Madison Freese, Alexis Gerritse, Chad Niemeier, Creighton Niemeyer, Jarrod Parry, and Krista Reynolds performed a play entirely in Spanish, which earned first place in the event.  Bailey Taylor recited the poem, La Vida, by Madre Teresa de Calcuta which earned first place.  Saige Brown painted a Spanish marketplace scene accompanied by a paragraph written in Spanish to earn first place.  Krista Reynolds also performed the song, Mercy by Shawn Mendes, entirely in Spanish to earn second place.  In addition to competitions, the students had the opportunity to attend mini language classes and cultural dance classes taught by UN-L students.
