Trojans Finish with District Runner-up and Qualify 6
The Trojan wrestling team competed at the D2 District on February 9th and 10th. The team did a great job competing and finished the district in 2nd place and bringing home at district runner-up plaque for the trophy case. Six Trojans finished in the top four and qualified for state. Drew Garrison at 113 finished 4th, Ethan Paxton at 126 finished 2nd, Pete Spilker finished 4th, Cooper Smith finished 1st, and Chase Barnts finished 2nd. The team out pinned the opponents 19 to 11, which has been key for us this year to be successfully. Because the team performed so well at districts they qualified for state duals for the second year in a row, the team will compete in Kearney on February 24th for a state team dual title. The individual team tournament will be February 15th-17th in Omaha, the six qualifiers will all compete for individual state titles or medals during the three day event. Come out and support the trojan wrestling team at either or both events. Thank you to everyone that showed up at Oakland-Craig and cheered us on as we earned the district runner-up plaque and supported all the emotions both ways during the two days.
