The Tri County High School Quiz Bowl Team traveled to Sterling Public Schools on Thursday, March 15th to participate in the Pioneer Conference Quiz Bowl competition.

Tri County fielded two teams for the competition.  Students selected to compete in Quiz Bowl are tested throughout the year on current events and general trivia knowledge; those with the highest cumulative scores become team members.  Team A included Riley Knust, Cooper Smith, Taylor Cammack, and Chad Niemeier.  Team B included Anna Schmidt, Dominic Smith, Ethan Knust, Sophia Linnemann, and Maddox Smith.

Teams started the day in pool play to qualify for the tournaments (Silver and Gold Brackets) at the end.  Team A went 3-3 in pool play, earning a #2 seed in the silver bracket.  Team B went 4-2 in pool play to get a #8 seed in the gold bracket.

In tournament play, Team A defeated Sterling B, Sterling A, and Diller-Odell to win the silver bracket.  Team B lost their first two matches in the gold bracket, missing out on a top four finish.  For the day, both teams were in the top nine of 21 teams after pool play.

The quiz bowlers will next travel to Johnson-Brock on Wednesday, March 28 to compete in the MUDECAS Senior High Quiz Bowl competition.
