Author Visit-Bruce Arant
Author and illustrator, Bruce Arant spent the day with students at the elementary school on Thursday, October 18. Arant led workshops with classes about creativity, writing, and drawing. Many students were able to create a new work or idea to take with them. Arant shared another story he is working on. He also showed students how focusing on the eyes and mouth of a drawing can express so many emotions. Younger students got creative when Arant drew a creature with all kinds of different animals that the student chose.
Bruce Arant was nominated for the Golden Sower Award for his picture book, Simpson's Sheep Won't Go to Sleep, in 2016. He also recently won Nebraska's 2018 Book Award for his follow up book, Simpson's Sheep Just Want to Sleep. Arant currently lives in Omaha.
It was a great way to end Red Ribbon Week.
