First Graders Read Across America

On Thursday March 2nd the first graders at Tri County celebrated the beloved author Dr. Seuss' birthday by participating in Read Across America!  This national event is held to encourage all children to read for enjoyment.  Each grade was given a Dr. Seuss book to focus on for the week! The first graders featured book was The Cat In The Hat.  We read the story and made matching Cat in the Hat masks. We also took pictures of each student in their mask and made a look and see board for  display in the library.  We also had a special visit from the Cat in the Hat himself! He brought the students bookmarks, pencils, and a special treat! Students participated in special Cat in the Hat math activities as well. The first graders really enjoyed this opportunity to learn more about Dr. Seuss and get excited about reading!
