In the months of November and December, students in classroom counseling are learning about gratitude, helping others, and how to show kindness to others. During the month of December, students in the Elementary will be participating in a project called "The Kindness Tree." Elementary Student Council members brainstormed ideas of activities students could participate in around the holidays and they felt "The Kindness Tree" would be a great way for students to practice being kind to others. Each classroom will have paper ornaments that they may fill out for a kind deed/act they performed or they can fill one out for someone they observed performing a kind act. Ornaments will be hung on the Christmas "Kindness Tree" in our elementary library. The "Kindness Tree" will start to light up from the bottom as more kindness ornaments are placed on the tree. The students' goal is to light up the tree as quickly as they can, so they can enjoy it before Christmas break. The students have already begun to put up ornaments and are excited to "light up the tree with kindness!"
