FFA COMPETES AT DISTRICT LEADERSHIP DAY

FFA MEMBERS COMPETE IN PROFICIENCY AREAS

Tri County FFA members competed in the District 5 Proficiency areas on February 7th.  The competition is based on the student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience programs and FFA leadership activities.  Proficiency recognition is divided into four levels.  The district competition qualified ag education students for the Nebraska State FFA awards.  Qualifying gold recipients will be reviewed in March for the April Convention.  Tri County had eight students compete in nine areas. This was the second most from any one school in the 15 school District.  Seven applications were forwarded to the state level.

Results were:

Sophie Linnemann - Outdoor Recreation, 1st Gold & State Qualifier

Tiffany Pearson-      Ag Communications, 1st Gold & State Qualifier

Cassidy Kowalski-   Home & Community, Bronze

Alexis Gerritse-         Vet Science Placement, 2nd Gold & State Qualifier

Taylor Cammack-    Wildlife Management, 1st Gold & State Qualifier

Alexis Gerritse-        Beef Entrepreneurship, 3rd Gold & State Qualifier

Bonnie Jantzen-      Dairy Placement, 1st Gold & State Qualifier

Alexx Malchow-      Equine Placement- Silver

Pete Spilker-              Beef Entrepreneurship, Gold & State Qualifier

Five members of the Tri County FFA have applied for the Nebraska State FFA Degree.  The members submitted their record books and application on 2/7/2018 and then interviewed in Milford, NE.  Ag students applying were Tiffany Pearson, Ethan Paxton, Kailey Weichel, Peter Spilker and Sophie Linnemann.

 

The State FFA Degree is based on a students Supervised Ag Experience Program, leadership activities, community service, financial records and activity points.  Recipients will have the degree bestowed April 6th at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
