AG EDUCATION NEWS SHORTS

  • Congratulations to Emerson Schultis and Alexx Malchow for their great showing at the District 4-H Horse Contest. Alexx was the Senior Division Champion in Poles and Emersion was the Champion in the Junior Division for Reining.  Emerson was also the Junior Division Reserve Champion in pole bending. 

  • The Advisor has enjoyed visiting the following SAE projects.  Ellie Peters- meat goats; Kaden VanWinkel-Equine; Josie & Lucas Weise- Dairy

  • Mr. Barnard has secured an FFA folder from Mrs. Peters at the DeWitt Museum.  The folder has a lot of TC FFA history and is fun to look at all the names and people who have made the FFA a very special organization.  Please ask to review if interested.

  • Thank you Alexxis Gerritse for helping with the Jefferson County static exhibit entries and to Hannah Holtmeier for serving as a junior beef superintendent.

  • Thank you Alexx Malchow, Nicole Vodraska and Logan Larson for helping with the June Farmers Market in DeWitt.

  • Thank you State FFA Secretary Savannah Gerlach for participating in the FFA Jefferson County cake decorating contest.  August Gerlach competed for the Tri County FFA entry. All four Jefferson County FFA Chapters competed.

  • Vice President Hannah Holtmeier assisted at the Jefferson Co. Fair premium auction by reading short bio’s of each exhibitor.  Great Job!

    WYMORE AREA LIVESTOCK SHOW - THURSDAY, JULY 18 | 6:30 PM

     Riverview Jr. Stockmen 4-H Club is hosting the Wymore Area Livestock Show on Thursday, July 18, Arbor State Park in Wymore. Pre-register by Friday, July 12. Registration forms are available at the Extension Office. Email registration to daisymaysheep61@gmail.com or send to Darla Acton, 4604 E. Linden Rd, Holmesville, NE 68310.  Show begins with Goats at 6:30 pm, followed by Sheep and Beef. Showmanship order for all species: PeeWee, Ages 7-10, Ages 11-13, Ages 14-18. This is a Blow-and-Go Show.  All exhibitors pre-registered by July 12th will receive a t-shirt. Rain date is Saturday, July 20 at 8:30 am. FFA PARTICIPATES IN DEWITT DAYS

FFA Officers Cassidy Kowalski, Hannah Holtmeier and Nicole Vodraska chaired the parade entry for the DeWitt Days on July 6th.  Cassidy pulled the “float” through the parade. The entry was assembled at Nicole’s house in DeWitt. Riding the float and tossing out candy were Kynlee Uher, Carter Holtmeier, Landen Chapman, Logan Larsen. Hannah Holtmeier, Nicole Vodraska,  Lucas Wesie, Gavin Weichel and Cole Siems. State Officer Savannah Geralch was the featured guest on the float. The FFA was the only float entered from the school.

AG QUIZ BOWL

The Tri County FFA hosted the first Jefferson County Fair Ag Quiz Bowl on Saturday, July 13 at the fairgrounds.  Teams of four competed in two divisions. Mr. Barnard asked questions in rounds of fifteen. The Fair Board provided trophies and prizes.  The Senior Division could have one adult on the team. Senior Division Champions were Carter Holtmeier, Edson Weers, Preston Engelman and Dean Engelman.  Members of the runner-up team were Bailey Schroeder, Tatum Schroeder, Hannah Holtmeier and Allison Engelman. In the Junior Division the winner was a team from the Sones Family of Meridian Schools.  The reserve champion division winner was made up of Henry Holtmeier, Sage Holtmeier, Sidney Engelman and Edie Holtmeier.

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY RURAL SAFETY DAY

The FFA Chapter needs volunteers for the Jefferson County Rural Safety Day on July 30th to help serve as assistant presenters and group leaders.  The event is at the fairgrounds in Fairbury. Mr. Barnard will be attending and can provide transportation. Also on the 29th there is a set-up night.  We will get the presentation stations ready and sort out tee shirts. Please consider and let Mr. Barnard know if you can help.

 

CHAPTER ANNUAL PICNIC

The annual Tri County FFA picnic will be held on July 31st at Pohlmann’s Pond.  Mr. Barnard will be at the pond at 5:00 and hotdogs roasting starts at 6:00 pm. The site is three miles east of DeWitt and then north to the Soap Creek Lutheran Church sign.  Turn west and go ¼ mile and then turn north into a winding wood chip driveway. Carpooling is a good idea. The Chapter Officers will provide hotdogs & buns, chips, marshmallows, cookies and lemonade.  All current, new and prospective students are invited. Please pass the word, this is your official invitation. If your parents wish to stay, great! Lucas Weise is working on canoes and lifejackets. You can fish if you want. (Please cast away from the canoeing!!)  Please contact an officer or Mr. Barnard if you need a ride.
