TRI COUNTY COMPETES AT STATE ENVIROTHON

AG EDUCATION STUDENTS COMPETE AT STATE ENVIROTHON

The Tri County Envirothon team competed at the State Competition on April 28th at Lake Wanahoo near Wahoo, NE.  The contest was sponsored by the Lower Platte North Natural Resources District.  Fourteen teams from across Nebraska qualified and competed for the state championship.  Five person teams rotated through seven areas, Soils, Range, Wildlife, Aquatics, Current Policy, Forestry and a Special Topic.  This year’s Special Topic was on groundwater management.  Each school had to develop an oral presentation to give to NRD personnel.

The Tri County team consisted of Nicole Vodraska, captain; Carter Holtmeier, Nick Loxterkamp, Kanin Baker and Caden Kapke.  Trevor Johnson was the team’s alternate.  Tri County’s best showing was second in current policy.  Ord High School won the championship.  Teams across the state represent 4-H Clubs, FFA Chapters, Environment Clubs and school Science organizations.  Teams must qualify through area eliminations.
