FFA Celebrates DeWitt at 150 Years!

The Tri County FFA Chapter helped the town of DeWitt celebrate 150 years last weekend.  Members volunteered their time in community activities and entering a parade float.  President Carter Holtmeier spearheaded the involvement.

The DeWitt Schools had an FFA chartered from 1941 to the school’s consolidation in 1966 with Plymouth and Swanton.

On Saturday Ellie Peters, Dusty Kapke, Cassidy Thavenet and Carter Holtmeier helped conduct a Little Tuggers Pull in downtown DeWitt.  The members registered youth, handed out awards, helped announce the event, moved the sled and hooked up tractors.  Later in the day the Tri County FFA officers assisted in serving the community chicken supper at the DeWitt Community Building.

The FFA Chapter constructed a parade float to celebrate “DeWitt Strong”.  The float was a three tiered “anniversary cake” made from upside down livestock tanks.  The tanks were different diameters and painted white with pink frosting. PVC “candles” were placed on the top tank.  Eighteen members rode on the float.
