For my first year at Tri County, I have many goals. But there is one goal that is very important me. That goal is to build a relationship with my students. To me, that is crucial when coming in as a first year teacher. I feel that getting to really know my students is key to building that relationship. So, at the beginning of the year, I asked the kids to tell me one word that described themselves. If that word is used often, I had them look up the word in the thesaurus and find a unique, stronger word that meant the same thing. So instead of saying "I sing" you can say "I'm musical". This not only helps me get to know my students, it also helps my students build their vocabulary.
