Last week, a major data breach compromised approximately 16 billion passwords associated with Apple, Facebook, and Google accounts. While Tri County Public Schools was not involved in or affected by this incident, we want to take this opportunity to help you protect your personal information.
We strongly recommend that you change the passwords for your Apple and Google accounts as a precautionary measure. Although there have been no confirmed cases of unauthorized account access, it is always better to be proactive when it comes to your online security.
Enabling two-step verification (also known as two-factor authentication) is another highly effective way to protect your accounts. This feature requires you to confirm your identity using a secondary device when logging in. If you already have two-step verification enabled, you may not need to change your password. However, if you begin receiving verification alerts that you did not initiate, this may be a sign that your account is under attack, and you should take immediate action.
This message is a public service announcement intended to help keep you and your information safe. Tri County Public Schools has no affiliation with the breach or the affected platforms.
