Seventh graders recently got a history lesson when they learned about simpler times. They discovered there was a time when people used actual maps to find their way when traveling, and couldn't rely on plugging an address into a smartphone to receive step-by-step directions.
Students were given maps of the state of Nebraska and asked to complete several tasks including locating cities/towns they had never heard of, measuring distances and using scales to determine mileage, and identifying various landmarks from our state.
Students enjoyed the challenge, but the consensus was to keep using smartphones!
