In Second Grade, we implement a STEAM block once or twice a month. STEAM is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. Students are given "challenges" where they must use their creativity and problem solving skills in order to complete the challenge. For the month of October, we incorporated our STEAM block to be all things Halloween! Students are put into small groups and are given roughly 10-12 minutes to complete each challenge, and then they rotate so they are able to complete all four challenges. Here you can see students were given the opportunity to paint a mini pumpkin, create an dot ghost art picture, and use linking cubes and pattern blocks to create a Halloween themed piece. We are always so excited when it's STEAM day!
