At Tri County, we’re proud to offer a variety of in person and online dual credit courses through Southeast Community College’s SENCAP program. The Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership (SENCAP) is a program offered to Sophomores and above to take college credit classes in high school. Eligibility requirements vary per grade level and are listed below:
Sophomores: Sophomores are eligible to take SENCAP courses at no cost to the student if the course is taught at Tri County by a Tri County instructor.
Juniors: Juniors may enroll in one (1) online course through SENCAP at no cost to the student and may also take one (1) SENCAP course taught at Tri County by a Tri County instructor.
Seniors: Seniors may enroll in up to three (3) online dual credit courses at no cost to the student. Seniors who wish to take more than three courses may do so; however, they will be responsible for the full cost of any additional courses, including tuition and fees.
If a SENCAP student fails to end the semester with a “C” or better average, the student must reimburse Tri County Schools the one-half tuition cost of the class. Tri County will pay for SENCAP classes if a “C” average or better is maintained.
Currently, Tri County has three in-person SENCAP instructors: Mr. Coenen (who teaches College Algebra and Applied Statistics), Mr. Spahr (who teaches Calculus and Applied Statistics), and Mr. Sand (who teaches welding). In addition to in-person classes, SENCAP has approximately 76 different web-based courses that range from Agriculture, Business, Communication, Criminal Justice, Education, English, Human Services, Information Technology, Music, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Professional Truck Driving.
This semester Tri County had approximately 54 students enrolled in at least one SENCAP class. If you’re interested in signing up for a SENCAP class or receiving more information, please contact our guidance counselor Mrs. Wollenburg.
