tri co market

At Tri County, learning goes far beyond textbooks and lectures, and Tri Co Market is a powerful example of students applying their skills in real-world, meaningful ways. This student-led business is a collaborative effort between three classes: Business Entrepreneurship taught by Mr. Armstrong, Production Agriculture taught by Mrs. Hicks, and Production Manufacturing taught by Mr. Sand. Together, these classes provide students with hands-on experience in creating, producing, marketing, and selling products to the community.

Through Tri Co Market, students are involved in every step of the business process. From generating ideas and designing products to manufacturing, marketing, and sales, students gain practical experience that builds confidence and prepares them for life beyond their years at Tri County.

The Production Agriculture class has expanded its offerings this year with the purchase of a new dehydrator. Students are producing beef jerky and dried fruits, while also experimenting with items such as pickles. In addition, students operate a freeze-drying machine, creating candy that has quickly become one of Tri Co Market’s most popular products. The class also manages a floral cooler, where students regularly design and create custom bouquets.

The Production Manufacturing class, led by Mr. Sand, plays a vital role in bringing many of Tri Co Market’s products to life. Students work hands-on with wood and metal manufacturing, creating high-quality items that are sold through the market. Projects include cornhole boards, custom wood pieces, metal projects, and laser-engraved items, as well as custom door signs. One of the most exciting aspects of this class is the ability to create fully customized designs, allowing customers to request any design they wish, making each product truly one-of-a-kind. Through this work, students develop technical skills while learning the importance of craftsmanship, precision, and teamwork.

On the Business Entrepreneurship side, students focus on branding, marketing, and customer engagement. They design and produce custom screen-printed apparel, including shirts, koozies, and hats, while also managing sales strategies, pricing, and promotion. These students ensure that Tri Co Market products are not only well made, but professionally presented and marketed to the community.

Currently, students across all three classes are collaborating on a special Valentine’s project that will soon be available for parents, grandparents, and community members to purchase for students. Be on the lookout for more information as this exciting project is released.

Tri Co Market showcases the best of Tri County, students working together across disciplines, applying academic and technical skills, and learning through authentic experiences. We are proud of the creativity, dedication, and collaboration demonstrated by our students and grateful for the continued support of our community as they learn to create, innovate, and succeed.
